Quay Drawing present a series of Art Classes at The Methodist Church.
Our new Methodist Church-classes are going to change a bit. We are running them in sessions at the usual times, but the focus will not be on themes. We will still have things to observe, draw and paint but we also want to develop your ideas and images. That may include working from your material or photographs developing your ideas in the direction you want. We will have some sessions later with a portrait model and printing materials.
All materials, refreshments and equipment are provided.

Bideford Methodist Church
Quay Drawing use a ground floor room in the rear of the Methodist Church. The room can be entered by a side door to the right of the main entrance. The room is spacious, light and warm. There are toilets including disabled and a large kitchen.

The church is at the top of Bideford's High Street on the right as you go up. It is next to two car parks, Honestone and Panniers. There is a first floor gate from the car parks leading to a slipway to the ground floor of the Church, the side door can be seen from this slipway. Access for disabled scooters is possible with care. There is a door bell to the right of the door used.

Peter Newell
MA BA (Hons) Fine Art
Higher Diploma in Fine Art – Slade
MA in History of Art
Pete trained as a sculptor graduating from the Slade in 1981. After running a successful commercial sculpture business for 25 years he turned his ideas to painting. Pete is intrigued by the sea and all things maritime. His paintings now focus on the ships moored around Bideford, his preoccupation is striking a balance between abstraction and detail. Pete has written and taught on a variety of Higher Education Fine Art courses. He also has an MA in Art History from the Open University.
