Springtime in the Garden Printmaking Day at RHS Rosemoor

After a short introduction, you will seek inspiration and materials from the garden environment of Rosemoor. This will be done with guidance from Polly, through drawing and gathering source material. Using this material, you will create two colour linocuts, enabling the production of a short edition of prints.
All essential materials provided. Lunch and refreshments included.

Quay Drawing are very excited about working at this beautiful garden in Great Torrington. The gardens are nestled in the Torridge valley and offer a wide variety of subject matter from formal gardens to natural landscape and planting. The courses will run either in Lady Anne's house in the Wisteria meeting room, a beautiful period room in this Victorian house, or in the learning centre classroom offering purpose built, modern and convenient facilities. Students will have the opportunity to work directly from the gardens and to use the catering facilities provided by Rosemoor if they wish.

At Barnstaple join A39 signposted Bideford (Atlantic Highway), keep heading towards Bideford on the A39 until you reach a roundabout signposted to Great Torrington (B3232). Take this road and follow it into Great Torrington. RHS Garden Rosemoor is signposted at Great Torrington and is situated 1 mile south on the A3124 road which heads towards Exeter. Car parking is free.

Polly Pocock
BA (Hons) Fine Art
Polly started with an interest in textiles and particularly embroidery. She was a member of the Embroiderers' Guild for several years and taught evening classes. At art school Polly worked with a range of media to produce installations, films and large-scale drawings based on social injustice. Now her interest is in drawing, developing these into small paintings and prints. Most work is focussed on links between her native Cornwall and South Wales although drawings and prints of plants are also made. She has delivered workshops in primary schools and taught a range of day and evening classes. Polly teaches fine art at Petroc college also working with students with learning disabilities teaching a variety of subjects including art and horticulture.
